Step by Step Guide

We set out below a step by step guide to our process at The Bespoke Wardrobe, which could be different from other bridal shops.

  1. Make an appointment via the website or call us directly.  We don’t charge for appointments.

  2. Attend an appointment with our very experienced owner Mary who will help you find your dream dress.  On order a 50% non refundable part payment is made. Your gown will be ordered with Suzanne Neville and your production time is booked and your fabric is reserved.

  3. 4-6 months before your wedding you will have your measurements taken with our in-house skilled tailor, Debbie.  At this stage we can confirm if a toile fitting is required, made to measure or a standard size would ensure the best fit. For precision, we recommend a toile fitting, where a cotton version of the top half of the dress is made. This meticulous step is particularly useful for sleeves or neckline alterations, ensures pattern adjustments and a visual preview before crafting the final gown. This couture service is exclusively offered at The Bespoke Wardrobe with our tailor Debbie who has worked with Suzanne Neville and on Suzanne’s dresses for over 20 years.

  4. Attend a toile fitting appointment with Debbie. You will need to wear a well fitted strapped bra.

  5. The toile will now be sent to Suzanne Neville and your dress will be made.

  6. 8 weeks before your wedding you will attend your first fitting where you will try on your dress for the first time and choose your veil.  Any adjustments will be pinned including the hem (you will need your shoes for this fitting).  The remaining 50% balance is paid.

  7. 4 weeks before your wedding you will have your second fitting.  The alterations will have been made and the hem will be tacked (nothing is cut away at this stage).  You can check the hem when walking and ensure that the fit is perfect (don’t forget your shoes).  Your veil will also have arrived in the shop.

  8. 2 weeks before your wedding you will have your final fitting.  The alterations are now complete and your dress has been pressed and is ready to go home with you.  Alteration fees are paid directly to Debbie at this stage.
