Q&A
Do I need an appointment at The Bespoke Wardrobe?
Yes! We endeavour to see brides individually with the boutique being exclusively yours. You also need our expertise and to be dressed by us personally. In order to achieve this you need a booking.
How do I make an appointment?
Please make an appointment online. Alternatively we would love to chat to you on 01277 355787 or email thebespokewardrobe@icloud.com
Do I need to pay for an appointment at The Bespoke Wardrobe?
No, we don’t feel comfortable with charging for appointments, however we do stress that we need as much notice as possible for cancellations.
Can I cancel my appointment?
Of course, sadly life happens we totally understand. We would love to have as much notice as possible as another bride could be waiting for your slot. Please call or email.
Can I pop in and browse anytime?
We do not mind you visiting at all, however unfortunately you will be unable to browse if another bride is having her appointment or Mary and Debbie are busy. If you would like to browse we suggest you call first to check if we are free.
Do many brides say “yes!” during their first appointment?
From experience we would say Yes! We are confident our gowns are utterly beautiful and we can use our expertise to refine and design your dress. What’s not to like!
How long are the appointments?
We allow 90 minutes for a first time bridal appointment. 60 minutes for the second appointment. Please arrive on time for your appointment and do not arrive early as we could be with another bride and will be unable to accommodate you in store. However we will always give you enough time and if we are able to we will overrun the appointment time if it's convenient for you.
Do I need to bring shoes or underwear?
I would say don’t worry, we have shoes here and our dresses have built in bras. We can advise regarding underwear during your appointment, we’re not judging!
Can I bring young children?
As much as we love children, they do often get bored and can be quite distracting for the bride. We ask that children under 10 years old do not attend on weekends as it's often very busy. Weekday appointments, please feel free to bring your children but if you have children under the age of 10 attending, please let us know in advance. We also ask that you bring someone available to look after them.
Will I have the boutique to myself on the day?
Yes, we always try to give each bride the store exclusively unless it's an event.
Can I take photos?
We don’t mind photography but prefer discretion and encourage our brides to enjoy the experience in the dresses, photography can be very distracting for our brides!
How many guests am I able to bring?
Ideally no more than 3 to the first appointment. We want you to have the people with you that you feel are right. Ideally the most trusted and loveable family or friends who want you to have the most positive experience.
What sizes are your sample dresses?
Our sample dresses are mostly bridal 12/14 however they have internal corestry which enables us to fit most sizes. We are very practiced at fitting women of all shapes and sizes and we will help you feel comfortable during your experience.
Do you offer “bespoke” dresses?
Yes, that is what we do best and is our absolute passion. Using the collection in store we are able to create your dream dress by combining styles and fabrics. Turning your wish into a reality.
How many dresses will I get to try on?
It really depends on each bride, given that our dresses take time to get on and off we would estimate 8-10.
What is the price range?
Our collection starts from £2,500 to £6,000. Should you have a budget below this we have a selection of ready to buy sample gowns you can purchase and take away which start from £1,200. Please email us for information.
Do you provide an alteration service?
Absolutely, Debbie our in-house tailor will cater for your every need, booking measurements and tuile fittings. She will not only be with you through your bridal journey she will complete all of the work by herself.
What happens if I want to lose weight?
We can offer a re-measure service around 5 months before your wedding. We offer this to brides on request.
When are the fittings?
Tuile fitting if required is 4-5 months before. The first fitting is 8 weeks before the wedding. The second fitting is 4 weeks before the wedding and the final fitting and collection is 2 weeks before.
What do I need for my fittings?
Please bring your shoes to every appointment and a bra if you are needing one.
When do I choose my veil?
You are welcome to choose your veil at any time. However, we schedule veil choosing at your first bridal gown fitting roughly 8 weeks before your wedding. It is much easier to choose when you are wearing your actual dress with the correct neckline and fabric. Debbie will assist you and your veil will be made and delivered for your second fitting.
Do I need to make an appointment to look at veils?
Yes please, you will need our expertise to help with the correct veil choice as our veils are individually made.
Can I purchase a veils from you even if I haven’t bought my dress from you
Yes of course but please bring in a photo of your dress and a fabric swatch if you have one. We will be able to advise on which style would be perfect.
How long do the dresses take to arrive?
Your dress will take a while to arrive once ordered. We would love to have between 9-12 months prior to your wedding. We can however arrange dresses sooner as there are rush cut options or buying off the peg.
How do I pay for my dress?
Once you have chosen your wedding dress in order to proceed with the order we require a 50% deposit which can be paid via bank transfer, cash, debit or credit card. Your dress balance is due at your first fitting 8 weeks before your wedding date. Payment plans can be discussed if necessary.
Can I have an extra appointment to see my dress again?
Yes but these appointments are charged at £50 and must be booked in advance.
Will you store my dress for me?
We would anticipate your gown stays with us during the alteration process. However if you have bought a sample and you would like us to store your gown we can at an extra cost.
When do I collect my dress?
Two weeks before your wedding. You will have a final fitting and collection appointment. We can help you to the car and the dress will be wrapped in tissue and in a dress bag.
Can you dress me on the day?
Of course, please contact us for further information.
I've changed my wedding date, what do I do about my dress?
Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss.
What happens if I live abroad?
Not a problem, many of our brides live or work overseas. We can condense the fitting process into a 24 hour window if needs be, but this needs to be arranged in advance.
How do I clean and store my dress after the wedding?
We will give you the details of our fabulous dry cleaner. He can organise boxing if required.
Where are your gowns made?
We are proud to say all of our gowns are made in the UK, just outside London at Suzanne Neville’s headquarters.
Are you open Sundays?
No, we keep Sundays free but do open for events!
Do you recommend a good wedding shoe designer/brand?
We closely with Emmy London and we recommend you visit her London store. However we do have our own regular events in store. Please contact us for more information.
Where is the best place to park when visiting The Bespoke Wardrobe?
There are three bays directly outside the shop, if these are full we recommend parking in Market Place car park two minutes away or Bell Mead parking one minute away.
Are there nice places for lunch in Ingatestone?
Yes definitely. We recommend The Star Inn, Pastasciutta, The Deli and The Lounge Wire Bar.
